The 47th annual conference of the Australian Society of Sugar Cane Technologists is underway in Mackay, bringing together stakeholders across the sugar supply chain to examine technological and operational developments.
Held from April 21–24 at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, the event features technical sessions, workshops and an industry equipment exhibition aimed at advancing productivity and innovation in the sector.
The conference program includes 62 technical papers spanning agriculture, manufacturing and cane-related research, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and value extraction across the industry.
An agricultural workshop and a manufacturing-focused site tour are also part of the program, providing practical insights into emerging practices and technologies, including developments in bio-commodities and alternative materials for industrial applications.
The event’s Industry Equipment Exhibition highlights supplier engagement, with companies showcasing bulk handling, processing and reliability solutions relevant to sugar milling operations.
