Belt Wise is targeting a critical gap in conveyor shutdowns with a new specialist mechanical division.

Shutdowns represent one of the most critical, and high-risk, periods in the operational calendar.

With production on hold and tight timeframes in place, the margin for error is minimal. Yet, despite their importance, conveyor systems have often lacked the specialised mechanical focus required to ensure optimal shutdown outcomes.

Belt Wise is aiming to address this gap through the launch of its dedicated shutdown division, Belt Wise Mechanical.

Positioned as a conveyor-focused mechanical specialist, the division has been developed to bring targeted expertise, structured execution and clear accountability to shutdown environments where precision is essential.

At its core, Belt Wise Mechanical is built around a simple premise: conveyor systems are complex, high-value assets that require discipline and technical oversight during shutdowns, not just general mechanical labour.

The division delivers a conveyor-exclusive workforce with deep system knowledge, integrating both mechanical trades and belt splicing capability within a single team. This approach is designed to reduce fragmentation on site and ensure that all works are aligned with conveyor-specific requirements, including system geometry and belt dynamics.

Rather than treating shutdowns as isolated maintenance events, Belt Wise Mechanical applies a structured delivery framework that begins well before crews arrive on site. This includes detailed pre-shutdown planning, Gantt-based scheduling, staging strategies and close coordination with site stakeholders.

During execution, each shutdown operates under defined technical authority, with clear ownership of conveyor assets and work areas. This ensures that mechanical works are carried out to specification, while maintaining strict control over scope, safety and quality.
