BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance has awarded a $200 million two-year contract for mining services at its Goonyella Riverside coal mine in Queensland.

BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) has awarded a two-year contract worth around $200 million for mining services at its Goonyella Riverside coal mine in Moranbah, Queensland.

Downer EDI was selected for the works, with provisions to be extended for a further three years.

It replaces an existing contract between Downer and Goonyella, which started in 2016 and expired on 30 September.

Downer Chief Executive Officer, Grant Fenn, said the company was pleased to have extended its relationship with the BMA at Goonyella.

“Downer has been working closely with BMA at a number of mine sites for many years,” Fenn said.
