Boral wins Western Sydney Airport contract

Metso has acquired the Chilean mining engineering, construction and technology company HighService Service to further strengthen its service portfolio.

Boral will produce, deliver, and lay the asphalt for the runway, taxiway, and airside roads and pavements at the new Western Sydney Airport (WSA).

As part of the CPB Contractors and ACCIONA Australia joint venture, Boral will also oversee the surfacing project.

Boral has worked on several airport projects around Australia and will manage every aspect of the surfacing project.

The company will adhere to compliance protocols and identify potential safety risks to meet its zero-harm policy.

It will also use reclaimed, recycled and environmentally friendly materials in its asphalt products whenever possible to lower the overall carbon footprint of the project.

To facilitate the WSA Project, Boral will build a temporary on-site asphalt plant, reducing traffic congestion.

The WSA is scheduled to open in 2026 and aims to have the capacity to manage up to ten million passengers per year.

The airport has been designed to embrace Australia’s natural landscape and Aboriginal heritage.
