Grain exports through the Bunge South Australian network continued at pace through March, even as receivals slowed following the main harvest period.
The company reported total exports exceeding 3.4 million tonnes since October, with more than 70 vessels loaded across its port network.
Bunge senior manager supply chain Derek Robjohns said global demand for Australian grain continued to underpin export volumes.
“We’ve shipped South Australian farmers’ grain to over 30 countries, reflecting the strong global demand for grain from our network,” Robjohns said.
He added that coordination between upcountry storage and port operations had supported supply chain performance.
“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our upcountry and port operations, we’re able to provide our nine export customers a flexible and efficient service and deliver high quality commodities that meet their individual requiremnts,” he said.
Shipping activity remained a key feature of operations during the reporting period from 2 March to 5 April, with exports surpassing three million tonnes for the season during March.
Throughput milestones were also reached at individual sites, including more than one million tonnes shipped via Adelaide ports and the Port Lincoln terminal.
In contrast to shipping activity, grain receivals declined to typical post-harvest levels. Small volumes continued to be delivered across the network, with around 12,000 tonnes received during March as growers utilised post-harvest delivery options.
The lower intake follows significantly higher receivals earlier in the season, reflecting the transition from harvest into supply chain execution and export fulfilment.
Operationally, the company also completed a series of post-harvest meetings with growers and employees across South Australia, reviewing the recent harvest and identifying areas for improvement ahead of the next season.
