Nearly 40 Western Australian regional community groups, clubs and organisations have been announced as the recipients of CBH Group’s August 2024 round of the Grass Roots Community Grants.

Over the past decade, the program has invested $3.1 million in support of 964 community events and projects across grain-growing Western Australia.

The milestone reflects the hard work and commitment of regional WA volunteers, who work to bring to life events and projects that contribute to improving their communities.

In this round, a total of $150,744 was awarded to a range of community events, including agricultural shows, launch exhibitions and youth clubs, and small-scale infrastructure projects such as sporting facility upgrades, shade structures and public art opportunities.

Chief Stakeholder Relations, Sustainability and Strategy Officer Brianna Peake said CBH is proud to celebrate a decade of dedicated, caring and passionate regional volunteers through the support of our Grass Roots Grants.

“The program was originally created to support the unique needs of WA growers’ local communities,” Peake said.

“These events and small-scale infrastructure projects play a vital role in sustaining regional WA communities, and CBH is proud to provide this support.”

One of the successful recipients, Latham Golf and Bowling Club, received funding to resurface and restructure its bowls green. Club President Colin Bryant said the group aimed to seek funding from an organisation familiar to their community.

“The Latham Golf and Bowls Club is the last remaining community organisation in Latham, and we were struggling to secure the necessary funds for the project,” Bryant said.

“With the help from the CBH Grant, we are thrilled to be installing a new bowls green.”

“This project will ensure the continued use of the bowls green and benefit the wellbeing of the entire community, especially with our Ladies Bowls Team resuming pennants after many years of absence.”

The next funding round for CBH Grass Roots Community Grants will open on 1 February 2025.
