The CBH Group has launched a joint venture with Deimos Laboratory to develop, produce, and commercialise advanced grain quality assessment technologies.

Named Acova, the joint venture’s flagship product is a visual analysis (VA) solution that automates key steps in the grain analysis process.

Using machine learning algorithms and custom hardware, the VA solution detects grain defects, foreign material and weed seeds in wheat, barley and oats.

Piloted over the past two years at several CBH receival sites, the technology has received positive feedback from growers and employees for its speed, consistency and transparency. Analysis times have been reduced, and growers benefit from real-time visibility of defect images via CBH’s CDF app.

CBH plans to expand the VA deployment to more receival sites for the coming harvest, with details currently being finalised.
