CBH opens grower council applications

CBH Group

Western Australia’s grain sector has been invited to put forward nominations for the CBH Group’s Growers’ Advisory Council (GAC), with applications officially opening this month.

The GAC will soon welcome fresh representation. This year saw Clayton South of Wagin re-appointed as chair, while Reece Curwen from South Stirling takes on the role of deputy chair, succeeding outgoing deputy chair Tarnya Fraser.

With the expiry of several councillors’ terms, five positions are now open to WA grain growers. There are two vacancies each in Districts 3 and 5, along with one position that can be filled by a grower from any district.

CBH chair Simon Stead encouraged growers from across all districts to apply, highlighting the importance of the GAC as a conduit for grower voice and strategic perspective.

“The Growers’ Advisory Council is one of the most important ways growers directly shape the future of our co-operative,” Stead said.

“By joining the council, growers can provide input on strategic issues, share firsthand insights, and help inform CBH’s decision-making. It’s also a unique opportunity for growers to gain a deeper understanding of how the co-operative operates, and how decisions are made.”

The GAC consists of 16 grower members, each appointed for a four-year term, and meets four times annually in Perth. Members also engage with CBH management at industry forums and events throughout the year.

Prospective applicants must address the council’s selection criteria and supply five grower referees. Applications close Sunday, 22 March 2026, and successful candidates will begin their term in July 2026 following an interview process conducted by a panel of CBH Directors, GAC representatives and senior management.

“The GAC is a powerful forum for leadership development and collaboration, bringing together passionate growers who care deeply about the future of the grain industry,” Stead said.
