Chief engineer steps down

Engineers Australia has appointed a Chief Engineer, who will lead the organisation's engagement and policy discussion with industry, government and academia.

Jane MacMaster, chief engineer at Engineers Australia, has announced she will step down in March.

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew said MacMaster has made a significant and positive impact as the inaugural Chief Engineer since joining in July 2020.

“During her time in the role, she helped to shape the organisation’s professional engagement, contributed to handling the challenges of COVID-19 and raised the profile and relatability of the profession through her ambassadorship and in the media,” Madew said.

“Jane has been a strong advocate for encouraging school students – particularly girls – to choose STEM subjects and consider the exciting opportunities that a career in engineering brings.”
