According to Italian manufacturer Concetti, rising demand from the fertiliser and agricultural sectors is accelerating the shift towards automation in bulk bag filling operations, as producers respond to increasing pressure on costs, supply and overall process efficiency.
This shift is also driving greater attention to weighing accuracy and loss reduction, as operators look to optimise the use of increasingly valuable materials.
In this context, Concetti has developed a fully automatic system designed to handle high volumes of free-flowing materials such as fertilisers, feed and seeds.
The solution is based on net weighing with gravity feeding, enabling accurate filling of 500–1200kg bulk bags at rates of up to 200 bags per hour.
High weighing accuracy also helps minimise product giveaway and reduce material losses during the filling phase.
Automation covers the entire process, from bag unwinding through to filling and discharge. Automated spout positioning and clamping ensure stable operation, while a dust-free filling process supports cleaner working conditions and reduces product loss.
Once filled, bags are sealed using a heat-seal system, with the spout automatically stowed before transfer to the outfeed area for forklift handling.
Designed for single-loop big bags, the system minimises manual intervention and can be configured to suit different plant layouts.
