Engineers Australia welcomes appointment of professor

Engineers Australia has welcomed the appointment of Engineers Australia Fellow Professor Sharath Sriram as WA Chief Scientist, describing it as an important example of how engineering expertise can be embedded into government decision making.

Professor Sriram is a leader in science and research known for turning breakthrough discoveries into real-world solutions. His work in nanoelectronics, sensors and medical technologies has successfully bridged the gap between advanced research and practical healthcare applications.

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew AO said Professor Sriram’s appointment is a win for Western Australia.

“Professor Sriram has a history of turning complex technical ideas into practical, scalable solutions. That’s exactly what the state needs right now, someone who can help build future-ready industries and infrastructure. His engineering expertise and innovative thinking will be key in ensuring technology and research deliver real benefits to the economy and to people’s everyday lives,” Madew said.
