The 2024 Australian Bulk Handling Awards took place last night to recognise the individuals and organisations that went above and beyond in the bulk handling sector.

The 2024 Australian Bulk Handling Awards took place last night to recognise the individuals and organisations that went above and beyond in the bulk handling sector.

The bulk handling awards are Australia’s only dedicated event that specifically focuses on the outstanding achievements and successes in the bulk industry.

They were held jointly with the MHD Mercury Awards, which highlight excellence across the freight and logistics supply chain industry.

Innovative technology Award

Control Systems Technology

Control System’s Technology breakthrough Mass and Volume Measuring System packages a Lidar volumetric laser scanner with high accuracy belt weigher and CST integrated software.  The result is a combined system that not only accurately measures material tonnage and volume, but also provides instant and average density for product quality checks, belt tracking and wear data, that continuously update.

Bulk handling facility of the Year Award

Sugar Terminals Limited / Gladstone Ports Corporation / Linear Engineering

The Port of Bundaberg Common User Facility has been developed by Sugar Terminals Limited (STL) in association with Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) to provide a gateway for exporting bulk minerals and agricultural commodities from the Wide Bay – Burnett region. The facility provides maximum flexibility to support “one-off” shipments or longer-term contracts.

AW Roberts Award

Jon Roberts

This award is presented in acknowledgement of the outstanding contribution of a young engineer in the field of Bulk Materials Handling. The award, named in honour of Professor Alan Roberts, was established by the ASBSH to recognise and encourage young engineers to pursue their professional careers and contributions to the further the development of bulk solids handling in Australia and globally.
