Flexicon release new flexible screw conveyor

Flexicon has unveiled a wear-resistant, flexible screw conveyor, capable of moving crushed glass, garnet, aluminium oxide, silica sand, aggregate, cement and other abrasive materials.

Flexicon has unveiled a wear-resistant, flexible screw conveyor, capable of moving crushed glass, garnet, aluminium oxide, silica sand, aggregate, cement and other abrasive materials.

The flexible screw conveyor uses a carbon steel conveyor tube, heavy-duty flexible screw, and heavy-gauge floor hopper and discharge housing.

The screw is the only moving part that contacts the material. Its lower end has no bearing, while its upper end is driven beyond the material discharge point, preventing material contact with the upper seal or bearing. This configuration helps keep maintenance simple in harsh environments since the single moving component can be quickly replaced if necessary.

As it rotates, the screw self-centres, providing space between itself and the tube wall to minimise or eliminate grinding. The screw’s rolling action prevents the separation of blends, while the enclosed conveyor tube prevents product and plant contamination.

It is available in lengths of up to 12 metres in round, square, flat or bevelled profiles to fit each application. The 115-millimetre diameter conveyor tube can be curved to vertical, to horizontal or any angle.

The company also manufacture other flexible screw conveyors, as well as pneumatic conveying systems, tubular cable conveyors, bulk bag dischargers, bulk bag conditioners, bulk bag fillers, manual dumping stations, drum/box/container tippers, weigh batching systems, and automated plant-wide systems integrated with new or existing process equipment.
