Future Force SA series helps young engineers

The Future Force SA event series, led by Engineers Australia’s South Australia division and its Tertiary and Graduate Engagement team, is designed to help young engineers connect with local industry leaders and explore the career potential within the state.

South Australia’s growing industries and innovative engineering projects are creating new career pathways for graduates and early career professionals, with Engineers Australia playing a role in supporting this next generation.

Lucie Reilly, South Australia Tertiary and Graduate Engagement manager, said the initiative is about nurturing local talent and linking them with meaningful opportunities.

“We have so much great talent here in South Australia – many fantastic young engineers, and an incredible range of opportunities and projects happening across the state,” she said.

The series highlights the importance of retaining engineering talent in South Australia, where key sectors such as defence, energy, infrastructure, mining and advanced manufacturing are continuing to expand.

Future Force SA offers participants a direct line to decision-makers and project leaders, encouraging them to consider how their careers can contribute to the state’s long-term growth.

Each event includes presentations from influential speakers driving major projects. The July session will focus on the Northern Water Project – a landmark infrastructure initiative set to provide a climate-independent water supply to the Far North, Upper Spencer Gulf and Eastern Eyre Peninsula.

Dr Ana Glavinic, executive director of Northern Water at the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, will share insights into the project, which is expected to enable growth in hydrogen, renewable energy, mining and defence.

Through events like these, Future Force SA is helping young engineers see the value of building their careers in South Australia – and how they can help shape the state’s future.
