Inland Rail nominated for Infrastructure Sustainability Awards

The Inland Rail project has been nominated for awards in two categories of the 2022 Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Annual Awards.

Inland Rail has been nominated for an award in the Sustainability Leadership category for its Excellence in Social Outcomes for the community work being done in regional Australia by the Inland Rail Skills Academy in delivering skills and education programs.

In addition, Inland Rail has also been nominated for the Industry Impact category in the Public Sector area for the integrated sustainability principles being delivered across the entire program, embedding sustainability into Inland Rail’s everyday processes.

Steve Jones, Director of Health, Safety and the Environment, Inland Rail said the Australian Rail Track Corporation is delighted to be nominated for these highly prestigious awards.

“Sustainability is a key priority within Inland Rail and is prioritised at all levels of the project to deliver exemplar social and economic benefits for Australia,” Jones said.

“Inland Rail is committed to being a leader in the rail and freight industry and we understand that to drive change across the industry our own organisational operations and strategies must be ambitious enough to see significant carbon mitigation across the program.

“Good luck to all of the award nominees and we are very proud of the nominations that we have received in these two categories.”

The Inland Rail program aims to deliver an enhanced freight rail capacity from Brisbane to Melbourne, enabling faster and safer transportation of goods.
