Transport and logistics firm Northline is investing $23 million to build a new transport and logistics facility in Regency Park, in Adelaide’s inner north.

The new 10,440 square metre under cover facility will give Northline direct access to Pacific National’s Adelaide terminal, taking trucks off the road, Northline chief executive Craige Whitton said.

“The new Adelaide facility marks a major milestone in the 33 year history of the company, which started life servicing Northern Australia from Adelaide – a route many others thought too difficult at the time,” Whitton said on September 19.

Construction on the facility started in July, and is expected to be completed early next year.

The terminal will be built next to the existing railhead, and in close proximity to Adelaide’s north-south road corridor.

It will also be a Quarantined Approved Premises, making it customs compliant, and therefore suitable for import/export operations.

Pacific National general manager Andrew Adam said Northline’s investment would significantly enhance South Australia’s supply chain.

“This is important infrastructure for South Australia’s economy that will help create jobs and support further investment for the long term,” Adam said.

The South Australian facility is the latest in a series of developments being undertaken by Northline. The Adelaide investment follows investments in the construction of facilities in Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin and Townsville over the last three years.

“With investments made over the last three years, Northline will boast one of the most modern networks of transport and logistics facilities across mainland Australia,” Whitton said.

Facilitating the Adelaide development in partnership with Northline is the Gibb Group. The sides worked together to deliver both the Darwin and Townsville distribution sites last year.

“We pride ourselves on being a customer-oriented developer focused on forming long-term relationships with our clients,” Gibb Group managing director Matt Gibb said.

“This third facility is testament to our holistic approach in delivering quality solutions on a personable level.”
