New Enerpac Lock-Grip pullers deliver simple removal of motors and gears

Global high pressure hydraulics manufacturer Enerpac is introducing to Australasia its LG-Series Lock-Grip Pullers for simple, safe and cost-effective removal of shaft-mounted parts, such as motors or gears.

The new pullers – which come in compact, easily handled mechanical and powerful 700 bar hydraulic versions – are quality engineered to deliver precision results even in the harshest operating conditions.

Enerpac Regional Sales Manager Darryl Lange says both the mechanical LGM-Series and the hydraulic LGH-Series offer an outstanding alternative to laborious and sometimes damaging hammer, impact and heat processes.

LGM-Series Mechanical Lock-Grip Pullers are an ideal solution for pulling small-to-medium sized wheels, sprockets, bearings, gears and other similar shaft-mounted parts. The puller’s locking mechanism enhances safety by preventing the jaws from slipping during the pulling action.

Additionally, a self-centring closing system allows all jaws to move simultaneously, making it easy for a single operator to mount the puller and to perform the application.

“The new Lock Grip pullers have been designed for a greater reach from the same diameter spread, allowing for the removal of thicker objects,” Lange says.

The LGH-Series Hydraulic Lock-Grip Pullers provide the same safety and ease of use as their mechanical counterparts, but the pulling force is applied by a standard 700 bar hydraulic cylinder. These pullers can apply up to 60 tons of force and are perfect for removing larger shaft-mounted objects up to 660 millimetres in diameter.

“Whether the new pullers are used out on remote sites, or in metropolitan automotive and transport workshops, they are backed by Enerpac’s technical and service networks in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea,” Lange says.

The new pullers are part of a complementary innovative stream of safe, labour-saving tools being introduced by Enerpac that include one of the world’s most comprehensive ranges of hydraulic pumps, cylinders and high torque technologies.

Other features of Lock-Grip Pullers include:

  • Synchronous jaw movement enables entire pulling job to be performed by a single operator
  • Convenient adjustment handle simplifies the position of jaws on application and increases speed of operation
  • New leg design provides improved reach, enabling use on thicker objects
  • Available in 2 and 3-jaw configurations
  • Spindle protector helps prevent damage to spindle when pulling against a flat surface

Master puller sets are available that include an LGH-Series puller, cross puller, bearing separator, bearing cup puller, detachable hollow cylinder, hose and gauge and a pump. There are also set options available that include hand, air, electric and cordless pumps.

“Enerpac offers a complete line of pullers with the widest range of sizes, capacities and styles,” Lange says.

“All are made of high-strength steel alloys that are dependable, providing years of trouble-free operation, even in the harshest environments.”
