Safety in Action set for Perth in June

Workplace safety experts from around the country are set to gather in Perth in June, to discuss how employers, business leaders and employees can play a more active role in developing safer workplaces for all.

According to Safe Work Australia figures, at least 22 Australian workers were killed on the job in the first three months of 2016.

The Safety in Action conference and exhibition is designed to encourage open discussion about the role everyone plays in keeping themselves and their workmates safe, says Keith Barks, from conference organiser and ABHR publisher Informa Australia.

“Creating a safety culture is an important part of the conversation at Safety in Action with an internal industry poll highlighting 87% of Australian workers believe their workplace could benefit from workplace safety improvements,” Barks says.

“We need to stress that everyone shares the responsibility for health in the workplace.

“We should be thinking and talking about safety as a regular and ongoing part of the work day.”
