Southern Ports chief executive officer Keith Wilks has been elected to the Ports Australia board along with another two new representatives from Western Australian port authorities.
Wilks joined Fremantle Ports chief executive officer Jodie Ransom and Mid West Ports chief executive officer Damian Tully as the newest directors on the 12-person board.
They join the CEOs of the Port Melbourne, Port of Townsville, TasPorts and Flinders Ports who were each re-elected as returning directors.
Wilks said he was excited by the prospect of what he can bring to Ports Australia in his role as a director.
“The ports industry has been a huge part of my working life, and I’m honoured to be able to give back to the sector,” Wilks said.
“Western Australian ports are a significant contributor to the national economy, so it’s great to see such a strong WA contingent on the new board.”
Ports Australia chair Stewart Lammin said Wilks would be a valuable addition to the board of directors and he was looking forward to working with all the new directors.
“The experience Keith has as someone with more than three decades working in various roles at various ports cannot be understated,” Lammin said.
“I’m sure this is going to be another great Ports Australia board to work with and together we will continue providing a strong collective voice for our industry while it plays a critical role in the national economy.”
The new board was formally elected at the Ports Australia annual general meeting this week. Stewart Lammin will continue as the board’s chair with support from Anthony Donald and Marika Calfas in the deputy chair roles.
