Tasmania’s port operator TasPorts has received the best financial results since its inception in 2006, with a recorded consolidated net profit of $12 million for 2018-19.
Around 15.6 million tonnes have passed through TasPorts operated statewide ports during the operating period.
Tasmanian Infrastructure and Transport Minister Michael Ferguson said the results were a great achievement and reflects the growth and strength of the Tasmanian economy.

“These figures are the highest freight volumes seen since the financial crisis in 2008 and represent a 3 per cent growth from the previous financial year,” Ferguson said.
“The Tasmanian Government is delivering our plan to boost the economy across all parts of the state and create jobs. TasPorts is a major contributor to this plan with the company delivering strong results for the fourth year in a row.
“TasPorts are part of this growth and is itself enabling growth in forestry, mining, agriculture, tourism.”
