Hydraulic bolt tensioning specialist Technofast Industries has recently relocated to a purpose-built factory in the industrial precinct of Crestmead, in the southern suburbs of Brisbane.
Technofast’s founder and CEO, John Bucknell says the move will allow the company to streamline its manufacturing operations and significantly increase its production levels.
“The move will allow Technofast to continue to meet our objectives of supplying our customers with cost-effective high quality products with superior design, coupled with a high level of customer service,” said Bucknell.
“Our commitment to quality will continue to be achieved by utilising innovative technology, employing well-trained and experienced staff, and performing ongoing research and development.”
Technofast has been addressing bolting and tensioning problems for over a decade; developing a wide range of products and services designed to make hydraulic tensioning both affordable and practical. It manufactures high pressure hydraulically operated bolt-tensioning devices that can be fitted and used with standard hydraulic pumps and equipment.
Bucknell explained that the move will also allow the company to adopt Lean Manufacturing principles which will further improve manufacturing efficiencies.
“Most leading manufacturing companies around the world have adopted Lean Manufacturing, which is basically a systematic method for the elimination of waste created through unevenness in workloads within a manufacturing process.”
Essentially, Lean Manufacturing is centred on making obvious what adds value by reducing everything else. It is a management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System, which is renowned for its focus on reduction of waste to improve overall customer value.
Bucknell said by utilising the latest state of the art manufacturing techniques, coupled with an aggressive R&D program, Technofast will continue to offer products and services at prices which vastly extend both the cost effective use of hydraulic tensioning and the number of applications in which the user benefits of these methods can be appreciated.
Products manufactured at its Brisbane operation include EziJac bolt tensioners, EziTite hydraulic nuts, EziTite TR hydraulic nuts, EziTite head nut, CamNut, plus ancillary items, all designed to utilise the power of hydraulic pressure to produce the force necessary to tension nuts, bolts and studs.
Technofast’s customers include BHP Billiton, Bechtel and Rio Tinto – with worldwide applications including Australasia, Asia and North America.
