thyssenkrupp Fertiliser Technology has signed a deal with Abu Qir Fertilisers Co to revamp the Abu Qir 3 urea granulation plant in Alexandria, Egypt.

thyssenkrupp Fertiliser Technology will supply the licence, process design package and proprietary equipment for the revamped plant.

UFT Fluid Bed Granulation is expected to increase the nameplate capacity from 2000 metric tonnes per day.

The horizontal cross flow scrubbing system minimises urea dust and ammonia emissions through appropriate handling of the exhaust streams from the urea granulation plant and from the urea synthesis plant.

Abu Qir Fertilisers Chairman and Managing Director Saad Ibrahim Abu El-Maati Hassan said with this expansion, Abu Qir Fertilisers will reinforce its position as a leading nitrogen fertiliser producer in Egypt.
