For 50 years, TUNRA Bulk Solids and the Centre for Bulk Solids and Particulate Technologies (University of Newcastle) have been at the forefront of applied research in the field of belt conveyors.

In August 2022, TUNRA held its first belt and idler showcase, where the industry had a chance to get together in person for an afternoon of presentations, discussions, networking and a tour of TUNRA’s testing facilities in Newcastle.

The 28 participants from 16 different companies encompassed belt and idler suppliers, pulley lagging technology suppliers and end-users from mine sites and power plants, who were all gathered with the purpose of learning about the existing testing capabilities and current research trends that will shape the industry.

On the 6th August 2025, TUNRA Bulk Solids will open its doors to welcome clients with an interest in belt conveyor components. This will mark the fourth edition of the event.

The belt conveying showcase is where component suppliers, end-users and engineering companies can come together to learn more about TUNRA’s belt and idler testing capabilities, state-of-the-art research and consulting services. The showcase will also include a site tour of TUNRA’s facilities.

Presentation topics include:

  • Belt conveyor component testing overview
  • Current belt and idler roll research and advancements
  • Energy-efficiency
  • Case studies

This event will be of interest to the following professionals:

  • Maintenance engineers
  • Reliability engineers
